![]() Loveland police lifted their shelter-in-place order late Thursday afternoon. She said officers told her that she would have to wait to get to her house because of the incident, but that officers went to check on her 24-year-old son who was in their home and was told to shelter in place. Michael Mason, who lives near the incident, said that in the afternoon while he was at his house he saw more than 10 police vehicles, both marked and unmarked, go speeding past his house followed by an ambulance later on.Ĭathi Herrera, who lives along Aries Drive, was returning home with her granddaughter when she pulled up and was stopped by the team of law enforcement in the area. Nearby Loveland residents spoke with the Reporter-Herald as police worked in the area. Loveland police officers spent the afternoon on scene, initially only describing the incident as an “active scene.” The incident led to a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding neighborhood. While no further information expected to be immediately released and the investigation ongoing, Loveland police, in the press release, thanked the Denver Police Department, Erie Police Department, Longmont Police Department and other surrounding agencies for their support in the incident. No motive was suggested in the news release. The release said a possible suspect was located by officers in the area carrying what appeared to be a long gun. Officers from the LPD, Northern Colorado Drug Task Force and other agencies including Denver Police Air Support began searching for the suspect, ultimately leading them to a house in the 600 block of Grimson Place in Erie. Assistant Chief Laurie Scott said Thursday afternoon that they put the word out to other agencies to look for the man and the car. Police said they received information identifying the possible suspect as 49-year-old Javier Acevedo, who was driving a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta and was believed to be armed and dangerous. With the three kids safe, SWAT returned and cleared the residence but were unable to find the suspect. It was believed at the time, the release said, that the suspect was still possibly inside. The release said the SWAT team immediately went into the house and safely removed all three juveniles hiding in various parts of the house. Loveland SWAT members deployed to the residence using an armored rescue vehicle. The three juveniles remained hiding inside the house, the release said. Thursday, LPD responded to the area of Aries Drive and Pavo Court for a 911 call regarding a weapons complaint.ĭispatch received additional information from juveniles inside a house on Pavo Court that victims had been shot and it was unknown whether the suspect was still in the home. They also said the possible suspect traveled to Erie, where he fatally shot himself.Īccording to a news release, at 2:22 p.m. Loveland Police Department officials said late Thursday that two people were confirmed dead at a home in east Loveland after a reported shooting earlier in the day.
